A Japanese Conceptual Practice

MANKIN is a Japanese creative practice and a long-term conceptual collaborator within the world of Larme De Sirène. It studies how symbolic systems can be translated into contemporary form without reducing them to decoration or literal promise.

Ten Thousand Gold

The name MANKIN is carried by the characters 万金—literally “ten thousand gold.” Here, gold is not understood only as material wealth. It points to plurality: many forms of value, many ways of seeing, and the idea that meaning can accumulate through attention.

The name is itself cross-cultural. Chinese characters, Japanese conceptual practice, and an international field of artistic references meet without being made identical.

A Method of Correspondence

MANKIN approaches the Five Elements, yin and yang, celestial cycles, color, and sacred geometry as systems of correspondence. They are used to organize relationships between materials, tones, proportions, textures, and movement.

Wood, fire, earth, metal, and water are not treated as product categories alone. They form a changing matrix: growth and restraint, heat and stillness, weight and reflection, opacity and flow. A work may hold several of these forces at once.

Translation, Not Illustration

MANKIN does not reproduce ancient symbols as fixed motifs. Research begins with the history, function, and tension within a symbol. The design process then asks what can be carried into a contemporary object through structure rather than imitation.

Japanese restraint and the use of interval create space around the symbol. French decorative imagination introduces surface, brilliance, and the sensibility of the objet d’art. Eastern systems of correspondence provide an underlying grammar. None is asked to disappear into the other.

Within Larme De Sirène

Larme De Sirène is the house, artistic proposition, and curatorial voice. MANKIN is one of its defining conceptual practices. Their collaboration is not a parent-brand relationship; it is a dialogue between an art house and a research-based design method.

The Harmonizer series is the first sustained expression of this dialogue. Through wearable objects, it explores how stone, color, metal, and the body can form temporary constellations of meaning.

Position on Energy and Meaning

MANKIN understands energy as a language of relation: how color changes perception, how weight alters gesture, how material affects attention, and how an object becomes part of a personal ritual.

The work does not claim to determine health, destiny, or spiritual outcome. It creates conditions for reflection. Meaning remains open, personal, and completed by the wearer or viewer.

Future Practice

MANKIN will continue to develop through research-led editions, artist collaborations, material studies, publications, and installations within the expanding world of Larme De Sirène.
